The line-up for the “Montepio Sometimes Love” Festival continues to grow, this time, with four new confirmations that include the return of artists who have marked several editions of the event, creating some of the best memories of the Festival, but also surprises such as the premiere of yet another artist on the 2024 lineup or the long-awaited return to the stage of one of Portugal’s leading Fado singers.
Buba Espinho, a young singer from Beja, has his debut at the Montepio Sometimes Love Festival on February 17th at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium in Lagoa. Traditional Portuguese music has Buba Espinho as one of its most important spokespersons today. Despite his young age, Buba crosses musical genres like no one else and travels from Cante to Fado with the same mastery with which he dominates national pop music and the most urban and current sounds. Buba’s new concert establishes him as the singer-songwriter that had been awakening within him for a long time and presents his entire experience in Beja, in the world of roots music, fado and more recently pop. An invitation to an enchanting trip that will bring special energy to the passionate hearts of the Algarve.
Raquel Tavares is returning to the stage and this celebration involves a very special concert at the Montepio Sometimes Love Festival. Four years after taking a break from concerts and tours, the longing for the stage became louder and, in 2023, Madrid, Barcelona and Seville welcomed one of the most powerful voices of Fado who, back in Portugal, performed at the Montepio Festival sometimes love for the emotion of those who want to hear their voice again and experience their powerful performances. An iconic, authentic and traditional Fado singer who will shake with emotion the hearts that come to celebrate the love and return of Raquel Tavares on February 17th at the Teatro Virgínia in Torres Novas.
João Pedro Pais has marked the history of the Montepio Sometimes Love Festival with unique and exciting concerts. In 2023, João Pedro Pais took his “Amor Urbano” tour to Portuguese stages, where he not only presented his most recent album that gave its name to this tour but also celebrated his biggest hits from his 25-year career. It was a year of celebrations that ended with two sold-out concerts at the Coliseums in Porto and Lisbon. On February 17th, João Pedro Pais celebrates love, passion and emotions at the Montepio Sometimes Love Festival, taking to the stage at the Municipal Theater of Vila do Conde. With an artistic career spanning more than two decades, hundreds of concerts and hundreds of thousands of records sold, João Pedro Pais will share with his fans a special concert where there will be no shortage of great songs and the contagious energy he is known for.
Finally, Rui Reininho, Toli César Machado, Jorge Romão, Rui Maia and Samuel Palitos perform live in a second concert as part of the Montepio Sometimes Love Festival. On February 14th, the iconic group that has been marking successive generations since 1980, takes the stage at the Grande Auditorio do Europarque in Santa Maria da Feira, a concert already announced previously. The celebration will be double as GNR will take their most iconic songs such as “Dunas”, “Ana Lee”, “Efectiva”, “Morte ao Sol”, “Mais Vale Nunca”, “Pronúncia do Norte” and many others to the Cine Teatro de Amarante on February 17th.
From the 14th to the 17th of February, the ‘Montepio Às Vezes o Amor’ festival will present shows by big names in national music, including the new shows “As Canções de Amor de Rui Veloso” in reference venues, celebrating love, complicity, the emotions and excellent music that national artists offer us, year after year.
The lineup for the 10th edition of the Festival already features thirteen artists and fifteen concerts in different cities across the country which, together, will be true capitals of love in 2024.
Tickets for the concerts announced here will be on sale from Friday, December 22nd, at online ticket offices, concert halls and at the usual locations. All information is available and updated at asvezesoamor.pt.
‘Montepio at Times o Love’ is a cultural event dreamed up and realized by the agencies Produtores Associados and Locomotiva Azul, and embraced from the outset by Associação Mutualista Montepio as a naming sponsor.
