Que Jazz É Este announces January and February schedule

Gira Sol Azul promotes, until May, in Viseu, a cycle of artistic residencies and concerts under the banner Que Jazz É Este?.

This cycle includes artistic residencies that cross musicians from different generations, geographies and natures and translate into concerts; concerts whose focus is the creation of contexts for the professionalization of young musicians and concerts programmed in partnership with national record labels that support independent publishing in the area of ​​jazz with a view to contributing to the circulation of projects of excellence created and produced in Portugal.

This initiative intends to continue throughout the year the goals that the Que Jazz É Este? proposes that they have a very significant impact on the community and the general public by promoting quality national and international music, with Jazz as their motto, as well as continuing to strengthen the artistic fabric of the Viseu region.

The concerts by CÍNTIA and MARCOS CAVALEIRO that take place on the 27th of January and 30th of March, respectively, are part of the schedule for the January/March period at Carmo81. CÍNTIA is the third group to integrate the Cena Jovem Jazz.pt, which features young musicians from the Lisbon jazz scene in a collective where the boundaries between genres are blurred and jazz shares space with hip-hop, electronic music and post-rock. MARCOS CAVALEIRO presents the album Sete with the stamp Porta Jazz signaling his starting point as a leader and composer.

On February 5, at Teatro Viriato, the concert that had been postponed in December of the GIRA BIG BAND takes place with special guest ELISA RODRIGUES, which focuses essentially on the songs from Elisa’s latest album As Blue As Red. a collective of young musicians, from philharmonic bands and students of professional music courses in the region of Viseu, who are accompanied by Colectivo Gira Sol Azul, under the direction of João Martins.

On the 25th and 27th of February, in the midst of a carnival atmosphere, the CHINFRIM, a collective of specialists in the contagion of the strength and joy of music, perform in various schools and streets of Viseu, bringing together young musicians based in the region of Viseu under the directed by Joaquim Rodrigues with a repertoire arranged by João Martins and costumes by Patrícia Costa (aka DonaPata).
