12th Edition of the Gastronomic Fortnight of Polvo in Lourinhã starts on May 20th

12ª Edição da Quinzena Gastronómica do Polvo da Lourinhã convida a viagem gastronómica por 21 restaurantes da região e mais de 50 pratos onde o polvo é o protagonista

O Município da Lourinhã volta a receber, de 20 a 30 de maio, a Quinzena Gastronómica do Polvo, naquela que é já a sua 12ª edição. O aguardado evento celebra a gastronomia da região em mais de 20 restaurantes aderentes, onde o polvo é o elemento central de todos os pratos. De entradas, a prato principal e até sobremesas, são mais de 50 as receitas criadas especialmente para a Quinzena Gastronómica do Polvo da Lourinhã. 

12th Edition of the Gastronomic Fortnight of Polvo da Lourinhã invites the gastronomic journey through 21 restaurants in the region and more than 50 dishes where the octopus is the protagonist

The Municipality of Lourinhã will once again receive, from May 20 to 30, the Quinzena Gastronómica do Polvo, in its 12th edition. The long-awaited event celebrates the gastronomy of the region in more than 20 participating restaurants, where the octopus is the central element of all dishes. From starters, to main course and even desserts, there are more than 50 recipes created especially for the Gastronomic Fortnight of Polvo da Lourinhã.

Combining tradition with modernity, the following delicacies can be tasted, among many others: breaded octopus with coriander açorda, octopus tempura with sea rice, octopus curry, octopus brás, octopus carpaccio, octopus woodpecker, Octopus’ pizza, Octopus sandwiches with Bulhão Pato, Octopus macaroni and Dreams of octopus jam.

In view of the pandemic COVID 19, the Municipality of Lourinhã adapted the original concept of this Gastronomic Fortnight to new circumstances, so that the event can be enjoyed, in addition to participating restaurants (inside or on the terrace), also at home, through the modalities take-away and delivery. To this end, it should be noted that the city council approved exceptional support for the entire restaurant and beverage sector for the extension or allocation of tax-exempt terraces until December 31, 2021. In addition, the Municipality signed a protocol with the ANTRAL (National Association of Road Transport or Light Automobiles), providing free delivery service in the region during the 11 days of the initiative.

Another important new feature of the Municipality, linked to the support for the dissemination and promotion of local commerce, was the launch of its Buy Lourinhã platform, intended for online shopping of local commerce, such as restaurants, accommodation, health, culture. This digital platform allows entrepreneurs in the region to have an online presence and, for consumers, it allows them to shop in the comfort and safety of their homes, keeping up with the diverse business offer in the municipality of Lourinhã, in a single storefront.

After such a troubled 2020, it is with great happiness that we are once again hosting one of the most cherished events in the municipality. We worked hard to adapt this edition of the Gastronomic Fortnight of Polvo da Lourinhã to the new reality, supporting local businesses and ensuring a safe experience for all of our visitors. The list of restaurants participating in the initiative includes the presence of Adega do Careca, Alma Nova, Barracão do Petisco, Restaurante Residencial Braga, Carlos dos Leitões, Restaurante Cervejaria Castelo, Chico Neto, DinossauroFood, Dom Lourenço, Foz Restaurante, Novo Parque, O Moleiro, O Pão Saloio, O Passarinho, O Viveiro, Páteo Ibérico, Pizza & Companhia, Solmar & Terrace, Terra à Terra, Vestigium and Vista Mar by Noiva do Mar.
