Meajazz bets on Jazz & Blues

with Carmen Souza, John Wolf, Mad Nomad and Kiko & The Blues Refugees

The sixth edition of Meajazz – Festival de Jazz da Mealhada brings a unique combination of jazz and blues, with touches of electronics and world music.

Carmen Souza, John Wolf, Mad Nomad and Kiko & The Blues Refugees are the guest artists for this event, curated by Pedro Galhoz and Luckyman agency. The festival will take place on the 14th and 15th of July, at Parque do Lago do Luso.

After an edition that explored several styles of jazz last year, this year’s edition promises a different proposal.

On the first day, July 14th, the shows will feature the presence of Mad Nomad, a project that combines jazz, hip hop, and sampling, and Kiko & The Blues Refugees, a formation that promotes their latest album “Threadbare”, where blues meets rock and roll, rhythm and blues, soul, and jazz.

On the second day, July 15, the stage will be joined by John Wolf, a musician who explores the first decades of Jazz and Blues, with influences from Latin and African rhythms, and Carmen Souza, a singer who is on tour promoting “Interconnectedness”, her last work with ten songs, mostly composed in partnership by Carmen and Theo, but also versions of “My baby just cares for me” and “Sous le ciel de Paris”, by Nina Simone, Edith Piaf, respectively.

The program also includes a performance by Spice Jam, on the Stage at Alameda do Casino, and street entertainment by Sons do Mondego.

The shows, as in the previous edition, will be free and will take place in Parque do Lago do Luso.
