1st edition of the ‘Viana do Castelo Organ Cycle’ starts on the 10th
The aim of the cultural event is to enhance the pipe organ, as well as the built heritage.
The “Organ Cycle of Viana do Castelo” starts on July 10th, at 9:30 pm, at the Igreja da Misericórdia with the organist Marisol Mendive and with the concert “Afetos e sentimentos num órgão barroco”.
On July 11, at 4:00 pm, the Cathedral receives Rui Soares, on organ, and MVSICA ANTIQVA PORTO, in a concert in honor of D. Anacleto Oliveira, former bishop of Viana do Castelo who died in 2020, with the show “Soli Deo Gloria: a luz do barroco italiano e inglês”.
On July 16, at 9:30 pm, the Parish Church of Areosa will host “o Cuco e o Rouxinol entre diálogos barrocos“, by the organist Filipe Veríssimo and ALTO MINHO ENSEMBLE.
The event continues on July 17, with the Church of São Domingos to be the stage, from 9:30 pm, of “Motetes e invenções, do renascimento ao romântico”, evocative concert by S. Bartolomeu dos Mártires, by Jonathan Ayerst and CAPELLA DURIENSIS.
On July 18, at 9:30 pm, the Parish Church of Serreleis receives organist Tiago Ferreira and VIANNA BRASS QUINTET for the concert “Per Sonare: música para órgão e quinteto de metais”.
The “Organ Cycle” also features masterclasses on July 12th and 15th, between 4:30 pm and 7:30 pm, at the Viana do Castelo Music Academy and Igreja da Misericórdia, with training by Paulo Alvim for “Introduction to pipe organ’.
