21 MARCH | Ton Koopman

Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation Bern Avenue, 45-A – Lisbon
Headquarters Building – Large Auditorium
Av. De Berna, 45A, Lisbon

Enthusiastic and popular with authentic interpretations, Ton Koopman has long since become one of the world’s leading authorities on the works of J. Bach. In this return to the Gulbenkian Music for two concerts in front of the Gulbenkian Orchestra, the conductor makes a rare incursion beyond an imaginary line of interest he drew on the date of Mozart’s death, directing Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2. It also welcomes the interpretive brilliance of Alexei Volodin, a pianist whose clever technique coexists with an expression capable of impetuous features and the highest lyricism.
