2º Andar the new album by Pedro Vicente

2º Andar is Pedro Vicente’s most recent album of originals and embodies an emotional portrait of society and contemporary life. More than adding a second floor to the artist’s discography, this work opens a window of opportunities in the Portuguese musical panorama to bring to the public music that is simultaneously spontaneous and elaborate, intimate and intense, that calls for reflection and relaxation, which has emotions and experiences as a starting point and intends to have as an ending point the awakening of different emotional states in the listener.

Figuratively, the window on the 2nd floor provides the ideal conditions for an attentive and curious spectator to watch the unfolding of the plot woven throughout the songs that narrate the real or fictional stories that take place in the lineup. If on the one hand, you are high enough to have a wide and comprehensive visual plane, on the other hand, you are still close enough to distinguish the colours, smell the aromas, hear the conversations and participate in the action, experiencing the story in the first person.

Composed of 14 original and unreleased songs with lyrics and music by Pedro Vicente, the album’s lineup aims to be as diverse as life itself, oscillating between electric and acoustic, to create the sound environments most adapted to the emotions experienced in each episode reported.

Entirely in Portuguese, the lyrics range from the most concrete to the most philosophical themes, from introspection to the celebration of life, from love to violence, from anxiety to loneliness. They tell stories about happiness and suffering, mistakes and learning, the comfort of stability and the attraction of adventure, passion and mismatch. As a guiding thread is an authentic and uncomplex way of writing and composing, which translates emotions into captivating songs that easily stay in the ear.

2º Andar brings together a cast of luxury guests, including established and emerging names in national music such as Mariana Moreira (author of songs such as “Não vás embora rapaz” – Ana Bacalhau; “Dores de Crescimento” Carolina de Deus and António Zambujo), Joana Almeida (winner of the All Together Now program and Portugal’s representative at Junior Eurovision), Cora, Nara and Nancy (The Voice Kids contestants), Edu Miranda, Carlos Lopes, José Manuel David, Ruben Portinha, Sofia David, among others.

Pedro Vicente returns to the stage at the iconic Auditorium Carlos Paredes to present his new album 2º Andar. The composer, author and musician from Benfica is accompanied by talented musicians (Alessio Vellotti, Miguel Gomes, Luís Gaspar, Vasco Finuras, Ruben Portinha and Marta Fernandes) who recorded the album to bring the songs to life, which form a portrait of society and contemporary life, addressing topics as diverse as existence itself, from love to domestic violence, from anxiety to loneliness, from professional dissatisfaction to the deep love of art and the affirmation of music as a lifeline.
