Pedro Abrunhosa celebrated the 30th anniversary of his album Viagens, but not only that, he also celebrated Life, and Portuguese Music, and again appealed to Peace, in a fantastic concert at Meo Arena.
After selling out in the five nights in Porto, he was welcomed by a full Meo Arena for a concert, thought to detail, where we heard not only the songs of Viagens, one of which had never been played live but also all the most iconic themes of this mega Portuguese artist.
It was “Viagens” that opened the concert at the beginning of this nostalgic and beautiful trip, with Pedro and 4 musicians to finish together with the audience, in the stage extension this song, only with 4 Snares, the proximity with the audience, was repeated by the night inside, in a concert with more than 20 songs, guests and still an encore of 6 more songs that he sang with the Cante Alentejano.
Followed by “Estrada”, “Não tenho mão em mim”, which had a fantastic solo by saxophonist Paulo Gravato, where he honoured Maceo Parker, saxophonist of James Brown, who participated in the album Viagens.
Pedro then addressed the audience and gave the motto for the evening, “Good night, Lisbon, today we will visit the past and celebrate the future”, and entered the first guest, Cláudia Pascoal, together sang “Fantasia“. Always attentive to the world around you, and with PEACE in the background, it follows with “Fazer o que Ainda Não Foi Feito” and “O Rei do Bairro Alto”, which made the audience jump from their chairs.
With Palestine in mind sang “Talvez Foder” written 30 years ago, and then “Será”, “É Preciso Ter Calma” and “Não Te Ausentes de Mim” who asked for the support of the fans, one of the most intense moments was with the song he wrote for a friend who lost his daughter, “Pode o céu ser tão longe”.
Besides Claudia, they went on stage at the Meo Arena, Diogo Piçarra, who with Pedro sang “Se Eu Fosse Um Dia o Teu Olhar” and “Amor de Ferro” in another great moment of the night, which followed, Sara Correia who filled with her voice the room in Lisbon“Que O Amor Te Salve Nesta Noite Escura”, and that merited, received an almost endless ovation.
Paulo Praça was responsible for giving voice to Gisberta, the transgender woman murdered 18 years ago in Porto, in “Balada de Gisberta”, and then we return to Viagens na companhia Mário Barreiros, producer of the album, and his son Leonardo Barreiros.
The end of this long journey was approaching and “Não Podemos Mais”, “Socorro”, “Staying Alive” by the Bee Gees and “Ilumina-me” were a mix of emotions between joy and hope, followed by “Eu Não Sei Quem Te Perdeu” and “Momento” already in the company of the last guests of the night, the Alentejo Cante with the Choral and Ethnographic Group “Os Camponeses de Pias”, Cante that Pedro Abrunhosa characterized as “the pearl of Portuguese culture”, and also recalled, the 10th anniversary of its classification as a World Heritage on the 27th.
It was with “Para os Braços da Minha Mãe”, “Lua”, “Tudo o que eu te dou” and “Senhor do adeus”, that he said goodbye to all who were present, in this fantastic night full of emotions and joys that give more colour to the Viagens of Pedro Abrunhosa.
