The 4th Oeiras Piano Competition takes place from the 23rd to the 26th of June, at the Ruy de Carvalho Municipal Auditorium, in Carnaxide – Oeiras.

After three consecutive record membership editions (150 entries in 2021), the CPO is the largest piano competition in Portugal. Despite its essence rooted in the national territory, it has been drawing the attention of participants from various continents.

In this 2022 edition, the Jury will be chaired by Pianist Jill Lawson. Leading Piano figure in Portugal, he is also internationally cherished. She will lead a panel of Portuguese and foreign concert artists and also includes references to national pedagogy, originating from north to south of the country.

The Opening Concert of the 4th CPO is open to anyone and admission is free. This concert will take place on the 23rd of June, at 9 pm, in the Ruy de Carvalho Auditorium. The guest artist, the South Korean Youngho Park, was the big winner in the most advanced/professional category of the previous edition and the program to be presented is very beautiful (Sonatas by: Haydn, Beethoven “Waldstein” and Liszt).

In the previous edition, we reinforced the prizes in amounts that go far beyond the monetary prizes of the contest: not only did we create the opportunity for prizewinners to perform at the Casa da Música do Porto (2022) and at the Coimbra Concerts Cycle (2022), as we established protocol with the Mafra International Music Festival (2022) and the Algarve International Piano Festival (2021/2022).

In this IV Edition, we want to consolidate successes and continue to strengthen relationships with those who can leverage our winning participants and the CPO in an event that does not end in itself. We can now proceed with the celebration of new partnerships with the Centro Cultural de Belém, in Lisbon, and the Summer Piano Festival, in several Central European cities.

We highlight the increase in some prizes, namely, 1st prize in Category D (up to 18 years old) estimated at €1500 and the 1st prize in Category E (up to 32 years old) valued at €10000.
