50 Questions • Breast Cancer

Pfizer Portugal in partnership with associations Careca Power and Amigas do Peito released “50 Perguntas • Cancro da Mama” (“50 Questions • Breast Cancer”), a manual that answers the main questions about the disease

Produced in partnership with Careca Power and Amigas do Peito associations, “50 Perguntas • Câncer da Mama” reinforces Pfizer’s bet on health literacy for cancer. It will be distributed free of charge by associations and delivered to hospitals throughout the country, and can also be downloaded through the Pfizer website, in digital format.

Many questions and anxieties arise when living with breast cancer. “What do breast cancer stages mean?” “How long do treatments last?” “Does red meat cause cancer?” or “Can I get pregnant after breast cancer?” are some doubts that accompany the arrival of a diagnosis or living with the disease.

To contribute to a life without fears, and in partnership with the Bald Power Association and the Humanitarian Association to Support Women with Breast Cancer – Amigas do Peito, Pfizer Portugal launched the book “50 Perguntas • Cancro da Mama” to demystify the most common questions about the pathology.

“50 Perguntas • Cancro da Mama” includes 50 questions to which Leonor Fernandes, a doctor at the Oncology Service of ULS São José, Pedro Meireles and Sara Magno, doctors at the Oncology Service of the IPO of Lisbon, respond simply and that go from the initial doubts as “What are the different types of breast cancer” to questions about nutrition and treatments.

Breast cancer is one of the diseases with the greatest impact on society. Considered the most common among women (excluding skin cancer), it is the first cause of death from cancer in this group. In Portugal, about 7,000 new cases of breast cancer are detected every year and 1,800 women die from the disease.

“50 Perguntas • Cancro da Mama” will be distributed, free of charge, through patient associations and delivered to hospitals across the country. It can also be downloaded from the Pfizer website in digital format.
