Rita Conduto releases her latest single “Asas de Papel” on June 13th, which in her words “… talks about a world that opens up beyond what she knew.
It talks about disappointment and the management of personal expectations that are forced after confronting a reality that is different from what she expected. It talks about a period in which solitude appears as welcoming. Wings that, because they are made of paper, are useless, and are useless. However, the almost joyful way in which I chose to interpret the song also speaks for itself and aims to leave some notes of a mix of revolt and hope so that not everything is lost in sadness.”
“Asas de Papel” is accompanied by a simple video but with a clear message, just like the single itself. Rita Conduto tells us that “the dance and the dancers (to whom I am very grateful) bring the delicacy and fragility that the lyrics convey. The television being destroyed symbolises the revolt inherent in what I wrote and a chance to demolish any unrealistic expectations that existed. The typewriter and the sung parts, a way of rewriting and reaffirming myself. The paper wings, the metaphor that I built over 3 weeks, served to be able to burn and leave with the flames all the suffering I felt at that time. I wanted to have fun, and above all, I wanted to like that video as much as I like the song.
Este novo single “Asas de Papel” é o segundo tema editado por Rita Conduto este ano (o primeiro, “Ver no Escuro” foi lançado em março). Em resposta à pergunta do que podemos esperar mais este ano em termos de singles ou EP, a cantora/compositora, responde que “eu gostava muito de que assim fosse e quero trabalhar para isso. Talvez mais uns singles, talvez um EP quem sabe… Enquanto as minhas canções puderem chegar às pessoas, não quero parar e quero poder partilhar tudo o que ando a escrever, com quem o quiser ouvir”.
