The Spanish comedy “El Regalo de Zeus” comes to entertain the Portuguese
at the Capitol on September 19
Part of the Mérida International Classical Theater Festival, the comedy “El Regalo de Zeus” arrives at the Capitol on September 19th.
“You go to Mars and I go to Olympus” is the motto of the play “El Regalo de Zeus”, written and directed by Concha Rodriguez, which hits the Capitolio stage on September 19th.
With big names in Spanish acting, such as Emma Ozores and Juan Meseguer, this is a comedy that tells the story of Deucalion and Pyrrha, two young people in love with well-laid plans. Deucalion, the conqueror, dreams of going to Mars, speculating about this distant planet and, if possible, returning a hero. Pyrrha, the explorer, dreams of finding the philosopher’s stone of hope and living in peace on Mother Earth. So, this young couple, with the crazy help of the comic Tália, travels to Olympus and seduces Zeus himself, so that he gives them Pandora’s box, the secret to seeing their dreams come true.
A comedy with circus and dance numbers, El Regalo de Zeus, produced by the company La Estampa, is a light and fun show for the whole family as part of Mostra España 2024. Premiered at the 69th edition of the Mérida International Classical Theater Festival, the show has the support of the Spanish Embassy in Portugal and the Cervantes Institute of Lisbon and is associated with EGEAC – Cultural Equipment and Entertainment Management Company. This is also the first time that the Mérida International Classical Theater Festival brings a work included in its program to Lisbon.
