Joana Machado, Marta Hugon and Mariana Norton, three fantastic singers, friends and accomplices, shared their love for jazz and music, in a fantastic concert at Teatro Maria Matos.
Elas e o Jazz, opened the concert with Goldfinger (Barry / Newly / Bricuse), of the classic 007 against Goldfinger with Sean Connery of the famous English spy and Gert Fröbe in the role of the villain Auric Goldfinger.
Extroverted, they conquer the public since the first song, Joana Machado, Marta Hugon and Mariana Norton, owners of fantastic voices were accompanied by the trio, with João Pedro Coelho on piano, Romeu Tristão on double bass and André Sousa Machado on drums.
Joana Machado, Marta Hugon and Mariana Norton met at the Hot Clube de Portugal school, where they were students, but also teachers. They went through different projects, with sporadic collaborations, while composing and writing their own repertoire.
One day, at a table after a few “cups” they decided that they would have to do something together and they came up with Elas e o Jazz, 3 years ago, where they play some of the best jazz composers like Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin, Richard Rogers, Jerome Kern or Harold Arlen.
Some of these classics went through Jazz tonight, “Can’t We Be Friends” (James / Swift), ” Old Devil Moon ” (Lane / Harburg), “Anything Goes” (Porter), “Just One of Those Things” (Porter ), “Love Me or Leave Me” (Donaldson / Kahn), “Nice Work if You Can Get it” (Gershwin), “Gee Baby, Ain’t I Good to You” (Razaf / Redman).
They transport us to an ever contemporary universe of Broadway musicals and NY jazz clubs, where the classics full of emotion, which these three singers make memorable, in a concert that had a full room and production by the Força de Produção.
