“The Hour We Didn’t Know Anything About Each Other” (1992) is a play originally composed of 450 characters, walking in a square represented as a city. Your goal would be to create a day in the life of a square following a set of stage directions. The size of this production requires a large cast, made up of seven dancers and people from the community, renewed at each performance location.
In this Handke square, there is a recurrence of a square norm that seems to no longer exist. We witness a rolling of time without time, of stories without stories, characters without verbal speech, and with an indefinite past and future.

It is a timeless piece in its translation of humanity to the stage because it is open to the here and now of whoever takes it to the stage. The writing itself is choreographic in both form and content. Composed of didascalia, profile indications and actions of each participant, it still offers great freedom of creation.

We are interested in questioning, thirty-one years after the creation of this piece, what has changed in the world. It seems to us that this title now tells us much more. That what we know about each other and ourselves is an increasingly dark well and that it is urgent to open channels for transformation, for the creation of utopia.
