Portugal hosts the 2022 edition of TRA – Transport Research Arena: the largest European research and technology conference on mobility and transport.

Under the motto “Moving together – reimagining mobility worldwide“, TRA 2022 will focus on innovative solutions for the global transport sector.

Taking place at the CCL – Lisbon Congress Center, from the 14th to the 17th of November, TRA will bring together leading national and international experts to discuss the present and future of mobility. On the agenda are four major themes: intelligent solutions and society; green mobility and decarbonization; innovative infrastructure for Europe 2030; and policies and economies for a competitive Europe.

TRA 2022 is organized by ANI – National Innovation Agency, IMT – Institute of Mobility and Transport, CEE – Consortium of Engineering Schools, LNEC – National Civil Engineering Laboratory, and Magellan – European Affairs Association. It is co-organized in partnership with the European Commission and in collaboration with European technology platforms and associations ACARE, ALICE, CEDR, ECTP, ERTRAC, ERRAC, ETRA, and WATERBORNE.

The Lisbon Congress Center is a national and international reference for holding congresses, conferences, and all kinds of events. With a capacity for up to 6,500 people, the CCL has 8 auditoriums, 10,000m2 exhibition areas divided into 5 pavilions, 35 meeting rooms, 7 foyers, and a restaurant for 400 people. It is a space of excellence in a privileged location overlooking the Tagus River.

LISBON, MOBILITY CITY

After the editions in Gothenburg, Ljubljana, Brussels, Athens, Paris, Warsaw, Vienna, and Helsinki, Transport Research Arena finds in Lisbon a point of contact between the past, present, and future of mobility for its 9th edition.

This conference is intended to be a space for debate and innovation for the present and the future and is based on three fundamental pillars: scientific excellence, research, and innovation; in the latest technological and industrial developments, as well as innovative policies, within European mobility; and the exchange of knowledge and experiences between Europe and other continents.

TRA 2022 will have an exhibition area for national, and international companies and startups, and an interactive and dynamic demonstration area.

Different types of sessions will take place, Plenary Sessions, which will address the central themes of the conference and will feature prominent speakers, from industry actors to public authorities; Strategic Sessions, which will encourage the sharing of knowledge between the various agents in the sector, researchers and legislators on mobility and transport, focusing on the specific theme of each day; Technical and Scientific Sessions, in which researchers and specialists will present research works; and Parallel Events, organized by the exhibitors and taking place in the exhibition area.
