Honey, nuts, endogenous products, snacks, gastronomy and entertainment during the 3 days of the event
The Lousã Municipality organizes, from the 18th to the 20th of November, the Honey and Chestnut Fair, considered the best in the country.
The event takes place this year at the Municipal Exhibition Park and in two tents set up in annexe to it.
The event celebrates its 31st edition, maintaining the dynamics of growth and commitment to quality, clearly asserting itself as the Best Honey and Chestnut Fair in the country.
The commitment to Serra da Lousã PDO honey, endogenous and seasonal products, local and national cuisine and an attractive entertainment program, reinforces the event’s positioning as a highlight in the local and regional calendar, with a national dimension.
This year the Honey and Chestnut Fair has the participation of around 100 exhibitors including beekeepers, producers, chestnut traders and other endogenous products, institutions, five gastronomic taverns run by local Associations and a show of diversified gastronomy with products from All country.
In addition to all the delicacies – which delight visitors – the Municipality has prepared a diversified entertainment and entertainment programme, with activities promoted and promoted by local institutions and artists, as well as with artists of national dimension.
On Friday, November 16th, at 5 pm, the Fair will open to the public, followed by the official opening at 6 pm. Between 6.30 pm and 9.30 pm, there will be travelling entertainment throughout the venue with the Street Jazz Band, with the theatre company “Um do Outro” and with “Homem Orquestra” from Encerrado para Obras, followed by, at 10 pm, the performance by Rouxinol Faduncho, ending the night with a performance by a DJ.
On Saturday, the 17th, the animation begins at 10 am with the Lousã Concertinists Group, between 11 am and 7 pm the RTP program “Aqui Portugal” will take place, which will take place live at the Fair, with reports from Exhibitors and at various locations in the county. The day also features a show-cooking by Chef Flávio Silva at 4 pm, and at 9 pm the CoimbraBrass Band performs, followed by the band Doutor e os Aflitos, before ending the night with Fernando Alvim.
On Sunday, the last day of this edition of the Fair, at 8.30 am, the traditional Walk of São Martinho will take place, starting from the Fair and which includes the realization of a magusto along the way. The entertainment continues at the Fair with the School of Concertinists of Lousã at 11 am, followed by theatrical entertainment with Companhia Um do Outro at 3 pm, the show-cooking “Rota dos Mercados” at 4 pm, Chiclateleira at 5 pm and the long-awaited Magusto Tradicional from 5:30 pm. The animation ends with the Orquestra Ligeira das Gândaras at 18:30.
It should be noted that the XXXI Honey and Chestnut Fair is an ERSUC Eco-Event and that for the first time recyclable cups will be used on the Fairgrounds. The eco-event classification and the use of recyclable cups give the event a character of responsibility, concern and environmental sustainability.
