“The table, a place where” at TMJB
by Companhia de Teatro de Braga
The Companhia de Teatro de Braga will be at TMJB on October 12 and 13 with A mesa, um lugar onde (The table, a place where), directed by Rui Madeira, on Saturday at 9 PM and Sunday at 4 PM.
The Companhia de Teatro de Braga brings us an unexpected and unpretentious show, developed from dialogues and life stories, from identity memories, and the cultural diversity of two interpreters arriving from distinct latitudes: the Sardinian Valentina Picciau and the Mozambican Rogério Boane.
There will be room for the celebration of life and death, of celebration and tragedy, of singing and tears. In the words of Rui Madeira: “The table soothes and enhances crime and love, depending on the moment. We cannot define how many tables we sit at, but we will be able to verbalize memories of a life, states of mind, ideas, reflections, feelings, and definitive statements, born there. The table is essential in our existence and affirmation. It is a stage of life where we all (actors and audiences) perform. Let us then sit down and share this piece of time, of ourselves.”
Rui Madeira is an actor, director, and artistic director of the Companhia de Teatro de Braga. He is a member of the Executive Committee of ETA – Eurasia Theater Association, the Cultural Council of the Municipality of Braga, and the Advisory Council of the Braga – European Capital of Culture/27 candidacy.
