Música Dá Trabalho starts in 2025 at schools in Pombal and Marinha Grande

January 16th in Pombal - February 3rd to 6th in Marinha Grande

In January, A Música Dá Trabalho (Music Gives Work) will pass through Pombal, bringing with it the multidisciplinary artist Leonardo Pinto (with his project Thispage), a notable example of local talent on the rise.

Leonardo, who participated in the first edition of the “Omnilab” project – also promoted by CCER Mais -, has already demonstrated his creative potential by taking part in an artistic residency that brought together five young musicians to compose an original theme and a version by a band from Leiria. In Pombal, he will present his work at ETAP, in debut mode, inspiring students with his trajectory and artistic versatility.

Music is work.

And truth.

However, a big and old problem we encounter is the mistaken perception that music is an “inferior”, “unstable” and “exclusive” work.

What is a lie?

What, for me, the project “Music gives work” offers is a new vision that aims to understand the reality of the different areas of music.

The music industry is huge and young people are often unaware of what goes on behind the scenes.

And by having this broader vision, they can find a new passion, and not be afraid that music or artistic fields will not have any stability.

I mean, they may not have stability if they are not thoughtful and do not think about different plans. But in any area contingencies can happen.

So, perhaps it is worth following our dreams, thoughtfully.

At ETAP I will be presenting songs from my first album “Nothingness”, as well as some unreleased songs and my most recent single “Paper Boat”.

I know some students personally and I hope that those who are the same age, younger or older than me, those who are afraid to pursue an artistic field (or another) due to the stigmas they have or those who are still undecided, watch me play and think:

“Wait, I know that guy. I’d like to do something like that too. Why not give it a try?”

The following month, the project will visit four schools in Marinha Grande, where the MDT band, made up of members of the team itself, will perform a unique and interactive show. This show includes versions of songs released by bands published by Omnichord, as well as the presentation of an original song that involves audience participation. The show combines humour, and learning and aims to raise awareness of local projects. With a format designed for school audiences, the aim is to offer a pleasant and memorable moment, especially for many students who will have the opportunity to attend their first concert.
