José Saramago’s first work for the theatre, written in 1979, will be presented on April 26th in Tróia.
On April 26th, Tróia Design Hotel will host ‘A Noite’, the first play written by José Saramago, in partnership with the promoter Yellow Star Company. The staging takes place in a unique and special session, marked by the evocation of the revolutionary climate of the night of April 24 to 25, 1974 – the central theme of this work by the only Portuguese-language Nobel Prize winner for Literature.
‘A Noite’ transports the audience to the newsroom of a Lisbon newspaper, where an ideological confrontation between journalists exposes the tensions between censorship and freedom of expression. As rumours swirl about what is happening on the streets, the debate escalates, revealing a micro-revolution that foreshadows imminent change. When it comes time to close the issue, who decides what will be published?
Directed and adapted by Paulo Sousa Costa, the play features a luxury cast, including Diogo Morgado, Jorge Corrula and João Didelet, among others. Tickets are now available at the Casino de Tróia box office and online via Ticketline: ticketline.sapo.pt/evento/a-noite-92973.
