The Cidade Escura series of alternative music ended on Friday the 9th with A Sul, which also included SALLIM, Flak and Éme.
After Cidade Escura hosted SALLIM on 21 February, Flak on 7 March and Éme on 4 April in the small and friendly room of the Cine-Teatro Turim in Benfica, on 9 May it was A Sul’s turn for another night of alternative music.
In partnership with the Benfica Parish Council and the Azáfama agency, the Cine-Teatro Turim, in Largo da Igreja de Benfica (Lisbon), hosted the sounds of the national alternative music scene, celebrating, in an intimate atmosphere, the creativity, diversity and depth of Portuguese music.
Cidade Escura has a program that ranges from the most introspective to the most experimental, and each night offers a space for communion, where established and emerging artists of alternative music invite us to rediscover the city of Lisbon in a new light.
A Sul is the artistic name of Cláudia Sul, a Portuguese singer and sound designer. She won the FNAC 2023 New Talents award for the song “Bleba”, which is part of her EP Já Agora. Her music mixes elements of cinematic sound design with composition, creating a unique and immersive listening experience. She is set to release her first full-length album, QUER QUER QUER, in the fall of 2025 on the Cuca Monga label.
