Christmas performance of Choirs at Amoreiras Shopping Center
December 14th, at 12h, next to the iconic nativity scene
In the context of the shopping mall’s Christmas program, the Regina Coeli Children and Youth Choirs of Lisbon and the Lourinhanense Musical and Artistic Association (AMAL) present a joint performance.
The Amoreiras Shopping Center will be the stage for a special musical performance, which will take place on December 14 at noon in the Central Square (1st floor), next to the iconic crib. The performance, dedicated to Christmas, will feature the participation of the Children’s and Youth Choirs Regina Coeli of Lisbon and the Lourinhanense Musical and Artistic Association (AMAL), under the direction of the conductor Maria Meireles and with piano accompaniment by musician João Francisco.
With a varied and carefully prepared repertoire, the Regina Coeli Children’s Choir, founded in 1991, is recognized for its dedication to choral practice, both “a cappella” and piano, standing out in concerts and national events. The Youth Choir, created in 2022, emerged as a continuity to the work developed with the Children’s Choir, performing regularly in concerts and meetings, where it highlights the talent and evolution of its elements.
The choirs of AMAL, in turn, reflect the dedication to musical training since childhood. The association’s Youth Choir, created in 2017, officially debuted in 2018 and has accumulated major participation, such as at the Summer Choir Festival in Lisbon, where it received a silver grade distinction. The Children’s Choir, created five years later, prepares children for an introduction to choral practice, promoting a taste for music from an early age.
The joint show will be coordinated by the maestro Maria Meireles, who graduated in Music in the Community and in Choral Direction, and who has a wide artistic and pedagogical experience, having been responsible for several projects in Portugal and abroad. Will also be accompanied by João Francisco, who has a classical background and a curriculum that includes collaborations with choral groups in both Portugal and the Netherlands.
This event, included in the Amoreiras Shopping Center’s Christmas program, offers families the opportunity to live a special moment during the festive season, allowing them to enjoy watching this Christmas musical performance while they shop.
