Afonso Cabral releases “Indivisível”

Album Demorar to be released on November 8

Afonso Cabral, Lisbon singer-songwriter known for his work as vocalist and lyricist of You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown, returns to solo releases. “Indivisível” is the first advance track from the new album Demorar.

Indivisível” is the postcard song that introduces us to a new expansion in Afonso Cabral’s sound universe, a theme featuring another lyric written by himself, speaking of a bond so strong that it endures “With each blow always indivisible.”

The song sonically grows and expands, culminating in an exercise that resembles almost a jazz improvisation, featuring a range of instruments such as acoustic and electric guitars, keyboards, drums, and saxophones.

“I was, months ago, anxious to show new music and finally, the time has come. To realize what I had in mind, I had the privilege of counting on some of the best musicians (and people!) I know – the list is still long: António Vasconcelos Dias, David Santos, Francisca Cortesão, Inês Sousa, João Correia, Margarida Campelo, Minji Kim, Pedro Branco and also a very special participation from the brilliant saxophonist José Soares,” Afonso Cabral mentions about the creation process of Indivisible and all the artists involved.

Demorar is the name of Afonso Cabral’s new album, recorded in the newly created louva-a-deus studio in Lisbon. The release, also under the louva-a-deus label, will be available on platforms before the end of the year, specifically on November 8.

The launch concerts for Demorar will be announced soon.

About Afonso Cabral

Afonso Cabral (Lisbon, 1986) has been a constant presence, although sometimes discreet (as he likes), in the Lisbon music scene for the last 15 years – whether with his You Can’t Win, Charlie Brown; as an integral part of Bruno Pernadas’ bands, Minta & The Brook Trout, and Mais Alto!; or as a songwriter for other performers. In the latter field, highlights include Perto, written for Cristina Branco, and Anda Estragar-me os Planos, co-written with Francisca Cortesão for the 2018 Festival da Canção for the voice of Joana Barra Vaz and later reinterpreted by various singers, such as Salvador Sobral and Tim Bernardes.

Under his own name, Afonso Cabral released Morada in 2019. He is preparing to release his second album Demorar in November 2024.
