African Culture Fund launches solidarity fund for artists in Africa

The African Culture Fund has launched a solidarity fund for African artists affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The information was released this Thursday, on the social network page, Facebook, of the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries.

Applications can be submitted until the 30th of this month, and are divided into two categories, the first being for grant applications, for artists or creators in a vulnerable situation due to the COVID-19 crisis. Applications are related to food allowances, health allowances and occupational allowances.

The second category is for requests for assistance with creation, for artistic creation or innovation projects adapted to the context of COVID-19 in Africa.

Artists with at least five years of experience and residing in Africa must apply, who must also present the card or equivalent document proving their profession.

Artists must also present a document containing their biography, artistic career, artistic approach and an overview of their artistic works (maximum three pages).

They must also demonstrate the situation of vulnerability resulting from the crisis caused by the disease of COVID-19.

The artist or creator must then send his / her application to one of the categories described above, accompanied by a letter of recommendation from at least one recognized reference person in his / her area of ​​activity, pointing out the need and urgency to obtain support.

The application must be made in English or French, through this platform
