Acting is the great protagonist of Casino Lisboa’s New Year’s Eve. Half an hour after the arrival of 2023, the musician takes the central stage of the Arena Lounge to welcome the New Year and interpret the best compositions of his career. Admission is free.
With a genuine festive atmosphere, the band Trio Naranjus starts, at 22:00, the New Year’s Eve program at Casino Lisboa. In a stand-up comedy version, David Cristina performs at 11:30 pm to get the audience in a good mood and celebrate midnight on stage, promising an unforgettable performance with several surprises reserved to mark the New Year in the best way. . In the first minutes of 2023, the animation will be ensured by DJ Rui Remix. After the Agir concert, it will be Rui Remix’s turn to return to the Juke Box to select, from 2 am, the ideal rhythms that will prolong the animation until dawn.
Agir Concert at the Arena Lounge
In the middle of New Year’s Eve, Agir performs at the Arena Lounge to interpret themes that are well known to the public. Agir is one of the most renowned artists of his generation, being a constant presence on radio playlists with his solo songs and several collaborations with some of the biggest names in national music.
Agir’s new work is born from a concept, different from all the previous ones, in which music and melody were the basis of the composition: now it is from the word that music thrives. The sound is also different from anything this musician, singer, composer and producer has ever done: we have become accustomed to the rhythm of his songs and now we are invited to reflect, to listen attentively to the details of the acoustics of instruments such as the double bass, the guitar , the drums, sometimes the piano and even an accordion.
There are strings and woodwinds, delicate arrangements and a Spartan approach to recording and editing: almost all the songs result from the recording of a single take, without disguises or tricks, with the assumption of the small flaws, which are true and human. Restraint is also felt in the video for “Mesa Para Dois”: recorded on film, it results in a more organic, raw work that respects the spirit of the record.

In a stand-up comedy version, David Cristina takes the central stage of the Arena Lounge, at 11:30 pm, to say goodbye to 2022 in a very good mood. With his natural irreverence, the popular comedian provides the ideal environment for the traditional count of 12 strokes and the celebration of the arrival of the New Year.
David Cristina has already done a lot of things that don’t matter here. He received a PhD in genetics from the University of California, San Francisco, which is neither hot nor cold. He was an advisor to the Government of Portugal, which also has nothing to do with it.
He created a biotech company to develop cures for serious illnesses, which is what it is. And now he works as an investor for a large multinational, which doesn’t add up to much either. In addition, he is a comedian with more than ten years on stage around the country, including in “Leva-te e Ri”. He is a resident at the Lisboa Comedy Club, co-founder of the podcasts “Conta-me Tudo”, “Separados de Fresco”, “Pijaminha de Cenas”, “Comedy Therapy” and now “Deslarga-me”. He was the first comedian to be present in the mornings of Rádio Observador.
Musical animation with the band Trio Naranjus
The band Trio Naranjus opens the New Year’s Eve program at 10 pm, inviting the public to relive several classics that marked different eras. Made up of multi-instrumentalists, this “all-terrain” trio is committed to musical diversity, recovering compositions by renowned names from the international artistic scene. With Tiago Barbosa (voice, keyboard and occasional shaker), Pedro Soares (voice, guitar, bass and standing tambourine (although seated) and Fábio André Rodrigues (voice and guitar).
Performance by DJ Rui Remix
In the booth of the Juke Box, Rui Remix ensures, shortly after midnight, better sounds to welcome 2023. After the Agir performance, the iconic DJ Rui Remix returns to the Arena Lounge to lead the animation into the early morning.
DJ Rui Remix needs no introduction…an unavoidable figure in Portuguese nightlife with a solid 38-year career at the service of djing, animation and also music promotion. DJ Rui Remix whom many affectionately refer to as a master is a DJ with a vast musical knowledge and culture, and continues to be a reference for many young people and even some of the new values on the national scene.
With his music there is always a party guaranteed. A red-hot track and always that old school touch where you can always hear something new, but also classics that inspired new trends and realize that it is possible to reconcile the most diverse musical styles on the same track to the great satisfaction of the party people who are not indifferent to their musical “journeys”.
