Al Guitar Duo releases “Rumbassa”
a fusion of the flamenco spirit and the energy of rumba
Al Guitar Duo is a guitar duo composed of André Ramos and Luís Fialho. The passion for the sound of the acoustic guitar and the desire to transmit the energy and harmony of the guitars led these two musicians to create this project in 2018.
AL Guitar Duo announced the release of their latest single, “Rumbassa”, which will hit major platforms on April 22, 2025. Known for their exquisite interplay of classical guitars and evocative Mediterranean style, AL Guitar Duo bring a new approach to the Portuguese instrumental music scene for 2025.
“Rumbassa” marks a bold and energetic step in the duo’s artistic journey. Rooted in the soul of flamenco but with a modern rumba twist, the song offers an invigorating musical narrative where passion, precision and rhythm converge. We embark on a lively journey through percussive strums, melodic flourishes and dynamic exchanges that reflect the duo’s characteristic synergy and technical dexterity, allowing us to go from the Algarve to Andalusia. With “Rumbassa,” they not only pay homage to the emotional heritage of flamenco but also invite global audiences to experience it in a new light, infused with dance and vibrancy in its instrumental narrative and cultural homage to the traditions of the southern Iberian Peninsula.

Luis Fialho
He studied double bass at the Academy of Music and Jazz Harmony Amateurs with Professor Zé Eduardo.
In the 80s he was part of the band Opinião Pública, which was one of the revelations of Portuguese Rock at that time.
In the 90s he was part of the original line-up of Entre Aspas, composing most of the songs on the band’s debut album.
In recent years he has worked on the projects Amar Guitarra and Cool Manouche.

André Ramos
He studied classical guitar and musical training at the Regional Conservatory of Vila Real de Santo António, later moving on to study jazz and flamenco guitar.
He played in several rock/pop/blues bands on the Algarve music scene, later opting mainly for acoustic instruments.
In addition to his solo instrumental project, he has accompanied some singers in different musical styles such as Fado, MPB, Jazz, Pop, Flamenco, etc.
