Lagos | Algarve

  • The menu at the fine-dining restaurant in Palmares has the signature of chef Louis Anjos and is inspired by regional flavours.
  • First Michelin star for the city of Lagos in the Algarve
  • The idyllic setting, which begins with the green of the golf courses and ends with a view over the bay of Lagos and the Alvor estuary, is the calling card of the second restaurant in the resort’s Clubhouse.

AL SUD Palmares, the fine-dining restaurant at the Palmares Ocean Living & Golf resort, located in the city of Lagos, has just won its first Michelin star just six months after opening.

The certification reflects the superior quality of the author’s menu, signed by chef Louis Anjos, and the uniqueness of the setting where the resort’s most recent Clubhouse restaurant is located – characteristics that provide a unique and memorable experience for visitors.

The menu features tasting menus comprising eight, ten or twelve moments, with dishes featuring the best products from the region, ranging from seafood and fish to meat, fruit and vegetables. Among the most distinctive ingredients are Tuna Rabilho, accompanied by oysters from the Alvor estuary, oscietra caviar and granny apple, Carabineiro do Algarve with bacon and codium, Iberian Pork Noodles with stew broth, Corns from Monchique or Raspberry do Algarve, basil and yoghurt.

It is a great pride to receive this distinction, just six months after the opening of the restaurant. Our team believed from the first moment that we could make a difference, working with great determination, sense of responsibility to provide a memorable dining experience to our customers. This distinction is a reward for the entire team, from the kitchen, pastry shop, restaurant or bar. We will work even more and better so that AL SUD continues to provide unforgettable moments”, says Chef Louis Anjos.

The fine-dining restaurant AL SUD Palmares, distinguished by its creativity, eclectic nature and superior quality, is the result of an investment by Kronos Homes in Portugal, specifically in the Algarve region, and is the second restaurant in the resort’s Clubhouse, designed by the RCR Arquitectes studio, awarded the Pritzker Prize in 2017.

AL SUD Palmares came to enrich the experience of resort owners and visitors to the Algarve and the city of Lagos, fulfilling the objective of being recognized for the quality of our real estate projects, and of being an important reference in the residential tourism sector in Portugal. Not even the atypical time in which we live limited us in pursuing the vision we have for Palmares. All the real estate development, the construction of a new Clubhouse, and several other investments in the resort, the conquest of this Michelin star is, therefore, a success that we are very proud of. Knowing that we are on the right path also challenges us to be, every day, more differentiators and better in our area”, explains Alda Filipe, Commercial and Marketing Director of Kronos Homes in Portugal.

Located in the resort’s Clubhouse, facing an idyllic setting that starts with the green of the golf courses and ends with a view over the bay of Lagos and the Alvor estuary, the AL SUD Palmares has a capacity for 24 people and will be open again in February. Exceptionally, it will open its doors on the last night of 2021 and promises to offer the best experience on the last night of the year.

With a capacity for 70 people, the resort’s first restaurant, also located in the Clubhouse, has an equally breathtaking view of the sea and is characterized by a Mediterranean-style gastronomic offer, with a strong local expression and some international touches. Open every day for lighter breakfasts, lunches and dinners, it is a meeting point not only for golfers but for everyone who wants to enjoy the unique lifestyle of this exceptional seaside resort.
