Albergaria-a-Velha opens a Sewing Workshop to increase the circular economy

On February 8th, at 10 am, the City Hall of Albergaria-a-Velha inaugurated the Sewing Workshop, at the Transport Coordination Center, to increase the circular economy.

Free to use, this Sewing Workshop will be open on weekdays, between 8 am and 7 pm, providing a sewing machine, ironing board and iron for carrying out small repairs, independently.

This project is part of the Municipal Action Plan of the 2030 Urban Solid Waste Strategic Plan, which promotes the creation of a network of repair points. By extending the useful life of textiles and clothing while maintaining their initial use, waste production and subsequent treatment are reduced, ensuring a more balanced transition to a circular economy.

Within the scope of this Plan, the Municipality plans to create other repair centres focused on furniture and small household appliances.

This Sewing Workshop joins the ToBeGreen Store, also located in the Transport Coordination Center, which receives clothing or home textile items to recycle or donate clothing items in good condition for exchange.

Currently, the Municipal Sustainability Strategy of the City Hall of Albergaria-a-Velha is part of several projects, including the Institutional Pact for the Promotion of the Circular Economy in the Central Region, the Commitment to Adapt and Mitigate Climate Change in Water Services, the United Against Waste Movement and the Circular Cities network.

Always confirm with the concert hall or promoter the conditions of access, confirmation of the date or time, ticket place of sale, price, and availability.
