Pedro Mendes debut album now available

After editing the single Só te te amo amar te ti (late 2020), the Portuguese musician Pedro Mendes today edits his debut album Tempo. And, at the same time, the single Miúda.

[dropcap]W[/dropcap]hy the name Tempo for a debut album? Pedro Mendes tells us that “the name Tempo came up immediately, as soon as the album was closed, and I didn’t even think about another name, because only this one made sense to me. In this work I review a lot of what I was, of who I am and, in a way , as I hope to come to face the future. ” So is it a personal record, which talks about experiences in the first person? “This work is as if it were a reflection of people I came across, of some of my references and also of my values. In it I find stories, some of me of people I came across, but all special for the meaning they had.”

After a ballad (Só sei amar a ti), a more rock single (Miúda) that comes out on the same day as the album Tempo. Can we know what your main references are? Nationals and internationals? “Hey man! That is a question that will testify in the answer. I will try to be succinct… In Portugal: Rui Veloso, Pedro Abrunhosa, Tim, José Cid, Sónia Tavares, David Fonseca, Miguel Araújo, Marisa Liz … balls, in Portugal for so long talent! International: Donny Hathaway, Stevie Wonder, Adele, John Legend, Bruno Mars, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, MUSE, System of a Down … it’s better to stop”, Pedro Mendes tells us.

But there is another world in Pedro Mendes‘ life. A world that fills you in a unique and rewarding way: being a Special Education teacher. In the words of the Portuguese musician “being a Special Education teacher is, in itself, a demanding and constant challenge. But, in the last year, given the context of Pandemic, it has undoubtedly managed to raise the bar even more of everything that is inherent above all, it has been, above all, a year of constant adaptation and resilience, in which many of our weaknesses and virtues have been “tested”… a year in which we had to give even more of ourselves! setbacks that this year brought, I believe it was a year of learning and evolution, which showed us how much our actions manage to make a difference in the lives of our students.
