The best national surfers are ready to attack the waves of São Miguel, in the Azores, with the decreasing price being already underway for the Allianz Ribeira Grande Pro, the fourth and penultimate stage of the MEO Surf League, the first division of the national surf, which takes place from 21 to 23 June on the west side of Santa Barbara Beach (opposite the Santa Bárbara Eco Resort).
In the front phase of the main national competition, the competition framework is now disclosed, thus beginning to design the sports matrix towards the eventual definition of national titles during the Allianz Ribeira Grande Pro, with special emphasis on Tomás Fernandes and Teresa Bonvalot, who compete with the status of leaders with the yellow lycra Go Chill.

Remember that Teresa Bonvalot will be able to become the national champion in advance with a 3rd place in the Allianz Ribeira Grande Pro. In the men’s, Tomás Fernandes may also be crowned national champion if he wins and Guilherme Ribeiro does not reach the final.

Em prova vão estar um total de 10 surfistas de São Miguel e da Terceira, com Francisco Benjamin, Peter Healion, Gustavo Ferreira, Guilherme Reis, Martim Silva Nunes, Josué Salvador, Yhorran Gabardo, André Cota, Sofia Costa e Ana Morales a apresentarem-se como algumas das esperanças açorianas no Allianz Ribeira Grande Pro.

“Above all, I am very proud to be able to represent the Azores at this stage, where the best surfers will participate at the national level. It is my first participation in a stage of the MEO Surf League and, therefore, I feel very motivated to be able to join the best surfers. We live on an island, and this does not allow us to be in continuous contact with more experienced surfers in the competition, especially women, which, in my opinion, hinders the evolution of regional surfers, some with a lot of talent. Therefore, I have great expectations that this stage is an opportunity to learn from the other participants, exchange experiences, know the route they have made and make new friends. I am also looking forward to watching very close surf sessions at a high level, where me and the other surfers – especially those from São Miguel -, can learn and enjoy our waves with more manoeuvres than often happens. I know the level is high, but I would like to be able to pass a Heat, although my main goal is to have fun and share our sea during the race.”
In the 4th stage of the MEO Surf League are also in dispute the parallel awards Best Wave (best wave of the stage), Good Snack Girls Score (best score exclusively dedicated to ladies), Go Chill Expression Session (best manoeuvres in the male as in the female), the Waversby Round (best sports performance in round 3), Waikiki Junior Award (best junior surfer in competition) and Ribeira Grande Best Surfer (best local surfers).
Before surfers take action on the waves of Santa Bárbara Beach, the public has the opportunity to be part of the Allianz Ribeira Grande Pro choosing their favourite athletes and participating in the Fantasy Surfer of the MEO Surf League.
