Alma Nuestra with two concerts at Teatro Maria Matos

Alma Nuestra presented their album at Teatro Maria Matos with the production company Força de Produção, last Monday.

Alma Nuestra is a band created by the two friends Salvador Sobral and Victor Zamora who share a passion for the sweet sounds of Latin America and, simultaneously, for Jazz. With that said, they called two other companions, Nelson Cascais and André Sousa Machado, and took a tour of the well-known and timeless songs of Cuba, Argentina and other South American lands, reinventing them and making them unique and personal.

The self-titled disc was released in Portugal in late 2019 and internationally, by Warner Music Spain, in June 2020.

The concert started around 9 pm in the auditorium of the Maria Matos Theater with the voice of Salvador Sobral, Victor Zamora on the piano, Nelson Cascais on the double bass, André Sousa Machado on the drums, and the special guest Tomás Marques on the saxophone.

Silencio” was the first theme played on Monday night, followed by “Oh Vida“, both songs belonging to the album.

Then we heard “Si Me Comprendieras” with Tomás Marques on the saxophone and with a beautiful introduction on the double bass by Nelson Cascais. We also heard “Tu Mi Delirio” and the new song “He Perdido Contigo”.

In a delicate moment, Salvador Sobral sang “Alma Mia” with Victor Zamora on the piano, a song that later led to the name of the group “Alma Nuestra“.

The seventh song was “Si Me Pudieras Querer” where the audience was invited to participate making the choir, then we heard “Tu Me Acostumbraste” and the tango “Nostalgia“.

After thanking the public, the technical team and the producer Força de Produção, Alma Nuestra played their last song “La Gloria Eres Tú”, but after a warm and strong applause, the band returned to the stage for the encore with two more themes “La Felicidad” and “Vereda Tropical”.

Alma Nuestra gave the last concert yesterday, the 18th, but you still can see the solo concert of Salvador Sobral (August 24 and 25) and Ruge, a project by journalist Rodrigo Guedes de Carvalho (September 7 and 8), everything at Maria Matos Theater.
