Alter do Chão is going to Golegã to promote, this Thursday, the holding of the conference Local Stakeholders for Global Market – The Coopettitive Relationship, an initiative of the Horse Economic Forum.

The objective of the event, integrated into the program of the XLVI National Horse Fair, is to find strategic answers for the future of the equestrian sector and leave an even greater challenge: we will cooperate and join efforts to boost the horse economy.

From equestrian tourism to sport, from research to science and from education to health, how can one, after all, cooperate to export more of the horse’s economy? And why can competing mean actively cooperating when the goal is common, that is, competition? The challenge is launched by the Horse Economic Forum, an initiative of the Municipality of Alter do Chão, which promises to assess, for the first time, the impact of the horse economy in Portugal, and which will bring together two illustrious municipalities in the equestrian world at the same table.

Moderated by the councillor for Heritage, Culture and Tourism of Alter do Chão, Raquel Palmeiro, the debate panel has the participation of Diogo Rosa, vice-president of the Municipality of Golegã, Luís Ferreira Lopes, strategy and communication consultant and former advisor to the President of the Republic in the area of Business and Innovation, Jorge Ortigão Costa, professional horseman and international teaching coach Paulo Caetano. responsible for the private stud with the same name and the one that most exports Portuguese horses, and the professional rider and international teaching trainer Paulo Caetano.

The objective of the Horse Economic Forum is common to all councils linked to the Horse, guarantees the mayor of Alter do Chão, who highlights the dynamic role that the Municipality intends to assume with the realization of these initiatives: “The Horse Economic Forum will assert itself as a platform for common dynamism for all agents in the sector, who recognize the need for a tool that allows them to cooperate and advance together, internationalizing and exporting more the economy of the Horse”.

The conference takes place on the same day that the protocol for the constitution of the Association of Portuguese Municipalities of Cavalo is signed, which unites several municipalities, including Alter do Chão and Golegã, and whose initiative came from the Municipality of Ponte de Lima.

In addition to the Annual Report – Study of the Impact of the Horse Economy – which will be released in 2023 – the Horse Economic Forum will also launch the Horse Business Ideas, the first competition for business ideas focused on the Horse economy. At the same time, the Horse Economic Forum is already promoting the Alter Agenda, a platform to facilitate equestrian business, publicize employment opportunities and share global knowledge about the sector.
