From September 2nd to 12th, the city is partying and celebrates with lots of music, theater, dance, exhibitions, book festivals, urban art, sports, and much more.
Noteworthy in these festivities, the presence of Lura, Portuguese artist with Cape Verdean roots, who enchanted Cesária Évora, and who this year celebrates 25 years of career, will give a concert at the Cineteatro D. João V, on the 4th of September.
There are three exhibitions not to be missed, at the Artur Bual Municipal Gallery and at the Casa Roque Gameiro, the 6th Edition of the Book Festival, which takes place in the gardens in front of the Fernando Piteira Santos Municipal Library, and, on the city streets, the project of Urban Art, Conversas na Rua, this year in its 7th edition, which will bring the creations of new artists to Amadora.
The Theater could not be missing either. In the auditorium of Alfornelos, the play “Desnível Bar II”, by Teatro Passagem de Nível, will take place on stage, and the Teatro dos Aloé invites the Quorum Ballet, at Recreios da Amadora.
Quorum Ballet will also perform at the Cineteatro D. João V, on the city’s anniversary, September 11th. On this day, after the solemn ceremonies, there will be lots of music, with the traditional parade of the Fanfarra dos Bombeiros Voluntários da Amadora, on Av. Cardoso Lopes and, at Espaço Fernando Relvas, with the performance of the Band of the Sociedade Filarmónica Comércio e Indústria da Amadora.
These are some of the initiatives foreseen in the program for the commemorations of the 42nd Anniversary of the Municipality of Amadora, which will also feature a tennis tournament, and the performance of folk music groups, Alentejo sing and concertinas.
