Dulce Pontes, Paulo de Carvalho and Simone de Oliveira are some of the artists who participated in a show in Lisbon dedicated to the fado singer Amália Rodrigues in February to mark the 20th anniversary of her death.
According to the organization, the show ‘Amar Amália – 20 years of nostalgia’ will take place on February 16 at the Altice Arena in Lisbon, “bringing together in one single stage great values of Portuguese music”.
With the repertoire popularized by Amália Rodrigues, the show will feature Portuguese singers Dulce Pontes and Simone de Oliveira, singers Marco Rodrigues and Paulo de Carvalho, Amor Electro group and Brazilian singer Vanessa da Mata.
Considered one of the best voices of fado, a national and international figure of reference of Portuguese music, Amália Rodrigues died at the age of 79 on October 6, 1999.
