The great songs of the queen of fado in symphonic version by the voice of Amália Rodrigues herself

Espetáculo inédito de homenagem à “Voz de Portugal” traz ao palco do Coliseu dos Recreios e do Casino Estoril a interpretação dos grandes temas da fadista, pela voz da própria.

In the year that marks the 25th anniversary of the disappearance of Amália Rodrigues, the show “Amália Sinfónico -As grandes songs da Rainha do fado in symphonic version” promises to remember, and make the spirit of the fado singer felt, in a unique tribute, on the 6th and October 10th, in Lisbon and Estoril, respectively.

The shows will therefore have a nostalgic atmosphere, recalling the voice and image of the incomparable Amália in several photographs and excerpts from iconic videos from the singer’s career, never before seen in Portugal, projected on a large scale, on the LED screen that makes up the scene.

The voice of Amália Rodrigues, accompanied by a luxurious cast, with more than 40 musicians from the Lisbon Classical Orchestra, a Portuguese guitar and the participation of singer Anabela will lead the show, under the direction of maestro Rui Pinheiro.

This original show, which includes themes such as “ Cheira a Lisboa”, “ Foi Deus” and also “ Gaivota”, “ Barco Negro” or “ Uma Casa Portuguesa” and “ Solidão (Canção do Mar)”, including among others The artist’s Brazilian, Spanish and French repertoire is intended to reinforce the richness and artistic diversity of the work of the Diva of Fado who took the identity of a people to the four corners of the world.

Amália is one of the most multifaceted personalities in Portuguese culture. As a woman and performer of music characteristic of a peripheral country, she conquered Portugal and the world. She took her voice and the Portuguese language to more than 70 countries. Singer, performer, actress, poet, or simply woman, she created her style, gave wings to fado, popularized great poetry and became one of the faces of her country’s soul.

Considered a national and international figure of reference in Portuguese music, Amália Rodrigues died at the age of 79, on October 6, 1999.

25 years later, she continues to be remembered. This time, the tribute to the voice of Portugal will be made at the Coliseu dos Recreios and Casino Estoril, on the 6th and 10th of October, respectively. Two unique concerts, not to be missed!
