“Amor De Ganga” is a new not-love-song by Miguel Luz

The multifaceted artist who released CROCODILDO in 2017 returns to solo releases with a new project in the works, to be published by Virgin Music Portugal.

He entered the homes of an entire generation with a series of humorous videos shared on YouTube. At that time still a child, Miguel Luz took his first steps as a YouTuber during a period when the concept itself seemed fresh here.

Musical parodies were the necessary bridge for the definitive leap towards music, and it is here that the artist from Sintra has concentrated his creative efforts in recent years. By the time “Amor De Ganga” was reached, his repertoire had already taken on various forms.

In 2017, he released CROCODILDO, his first original album featuring tracks that were particularly well-received by the public such as “MILF,” “COTA,” and “ALGUÉM.” An album that was openly satirical in writing, but already with a serious investment in production, where the former YouTuber presented himself under the alter ego Mike Lyte to do more than musical parodies.

From rap to rock ballads, Miguel Luz also shifted the humorous aspect of songwriting to the background, with adulthood bringing new things to express. “Meditação” revealed another facet of the singer and composer post-CROCODILDO, and “Montanha Russa” confirmed this change in his artistic direction. In the meantime, he creatively multiplied himself through photo shoots, and short films — HALFPIPE. a real love story. is paradigmatic of the various dimensions of his creativity —, the podcast Janela Aberta — which took him on a tour from North to South of the country with a series of sold-out live shows —, and his clothing brand, NATA.

In “Amor De Ganga,” he returns to releases unequivocally bearing his name, with a track that presents him under a new record label. “Amor De Ganga” is an irresistible romance between pop and indie rock, reflecting his most favoured musical inspirations. With André Pêga and Rui Dos Anjos directing the music video, the creative direction also belongs to the protagonist on screen, who colours the narrative of “Amor De Ganga” with subtle visual references throughout the video he conceptualized.

After a two-year hiatus, Miguel Luz is aiming for a new solo work, with a release anticipated by Virgin Music Portugal, whose first single is now available predicting a new phase in his career. Which, judging by what he has already done and what he still has to accomplish, is expected to be long and enduring like the denim he wears here.
