“Amor escondido” the new single by Joana Almeida in a duet with Matheus Alcântara

The arrival of spring brings us another release from the young and talented Joana Almeida. On the last Friday of the month, an “Amor escondido” is revealed in a song, which was born from an unexpected partnership with Brazilian musician Matheus Alcântara.

After “Se me ouvires cantar”, released in December 2023, the promising mountain artist now gives us the second single, with a completely different musical approach, typical of someone who loves what they do and continues to look for the path right, without worrying about labelling musical genres – because after all, music is music.

The love that Joana and Matheus express for this art is anything but hidden, and it was precisely this common love that crossed them. Both appeared on the RTP program “The Voice” (Matheus in 2021 in the adult version and Joana in 2023 in the kids format) and social networks ended up serving as a meeting point. It was then that the idea arose of trying, in a song, to join voices and discover the perfect harmonies to tell a story, not necessarily of themselves, but of someone who lives in search of that precious asset that crosses generations and that manifests itself in countless ways. shapes.

This song, whose lyrics and vocal arrangements were worked on in partnership by the two artists, portrays the dream of finding true Love. Love is sometimes waiting by our side and is not always understood! It’s like everything! It revolves around time! This time teaches us to deal, to give ourselves and to give to others. When will be the right time to love? Where will my love be? Since love is this infinite discovery, why not say that it is hidden? Will we find it in a new person? Or find him again anyway? “Love is Hidden” in this story, but rediscovered, recovered, and transformed. Continuously hidden so we don’t lose the desire to look for it.

Joana Almeida, the “star of the mountains”:

Since the age of seven, Joana Almeida, born in Gouveia (Serra da Estrela), has been doing what she loves – singing. Music is present in almost every 24 hours of each day.

In 2019, she won first place at the Gala dos Pequenos Cantores da Figueira da Foz, which gave her the passport to represent Portugal in the Junior Eurovision Festival that same year, in Poland, with the theme “Come with me”.

Two years later, she won the TVI competition “All Together Now Kids” and, in 2022, she was a finalist in the program “Uma Canção Para Ti”, also on TVI.

She performed in 2023 on the stage of The Voice Kids, on RTP, with the mentorship of Áurea, chosen by Joana after turning all four chairs in the blind test.

Between several performances in different shows, both in concerts and in musical theatre, he has already set foot on some of the most important stages in our country, now revealing to the Portuguese music market his second single and with the prospect of a bright future in this art that every day feeds the soul.

Matheus Alcântara, the Brazilian talent who chose Portugal:

Coming from the Brazilian state of Espírito Santo, Matheus Alcântara brings with him the varied facets of Brazilian popular music as his musical characteristic.

He began his path in music playing percussion as a child, influenced by the musical taste of his family and friends who took him to samba circles and gatherings that gave rise to his first contacts with music. He later discovered the paths of guitar and voice, where he came across another musical universe that added a lot to him and even gave him skills to begin his process as a composer.

Upon arriving in Portugal in 2014, he continued to dedicate himself to his career, alongside other work and, in 2016, he joined the Braço de Prata Jazz School. Simultaneously with his studies in music, Matheus was, for four years, percussionist and back vocalist for the Portuguese Afro-indie Band “Yagmar”, having performed on various stages such as Super Bock em Stock, Fnac Live, Festa do Avante or o Caldas Late Night.

In 2021, he participated in the program The Voice Portugal and won his place in the competition, reaching the semi-finals, with singer and composer Diogo Piçarra as his mentor.

With a voice that takes us to the different corners of Brazil, Matheus Alcântara is party, it’s emotion, it’s nostalgia, it’s new, it’s singing Brazil.
