Ana Lua Caiano has just been awarded at the 28th edition of the Globos de Ouro in the Best Song category for the song “Deixem o Morto Morrer”, (“Let the Dead Die”) from her debut album.
The Portuguese Globos de Ouro are awards that celebrate and annually mark the best of national popular culture in various disciplines. The artist was nominated in three categories (best performer, best song with “Let the Dead Die,” and best newcomer) and ended up winning her first Globos de Ouro.
Ana Lua Caiano’s artistic journey is still relatively recent; in 2022 she released her first EP Cheguei Tarde a Ontem in 2023 she surprised with “Se Dançar É Só Depois”, and this year, on March 15, 2024, she released her first album, Vou Ficar Neste Quadrado under the German label Glitterbeat.
Since the release of her debut album, Ana Lua Caiano has received much acclaim from both national and international specialized critics, appearing in various highlights in media across Europe (BBC, Le Monde, El País) and even reaching across the Atlantic with several features on North American radios (KEXP).
The artist has also performed on numerous stages during a tour to present the album both within and outside the country, participating in international festivals such as WOMEX, BIME Bilbao, FIRA B!, MUM, Live Europe, Les Trans Musicales, Roskilde Festival, Les Sud à Arles, La Mar de Músicas, Oslo World Fest, and the Reeperbahn, among many others. On the national circuit, she performed at NOS Alive, Primavera Sound Porto, WOOL | Covilhã Arte Urbana, Ponte D’Lima Festival, Bons Sons, and MEO Kalorama, among many other dates.
The award ceremony of the 28th Golden Globe Gala took place this Sunday, May 29, at the Coliseu dos Recreios and was broadcast live on SIC.
