Ana Monteiro, Alexis Santos and Gabriel Lopes in the semi-finals

The Portuguese Ana Monteiro, in the 200 meters moth, Alexis Santos, and Gabriel Lopes, both in the 200 styles, qualified today for the semi-finals of the World Swimming Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.

Ana Monteiro (Fluvial Vilacondense) topped the qualifiers with a time of 2.09.43 minutes, ninth out of the 33 swimmers, which earned her second place in the fourth grade.

Also qualified for the semi-finals, which will be played today, were Alexis Santos (Sporting) and Gabriel Lopes (Louzan) in the 200 meters, with 1.59.01 and 1.59.76, respectively.

Alexis Santos was fourth in the sixth grade with the 10th qualifying round, while Gabriel Lopes was sixth in the fifth, reaching the 16th record of this phase, out of 51.

In the 100 meters freestyle, Miguel Nascimento (Benfica) was in the qualifiers, with the 44th time (49.98 seconds).

Ana Monteiro will compete for access to the final today at 21:10 (13:10 in Lisbon), just before Alexis Santos and Gabriel Lopes compete in the semi-finals of the 200 styles.

On Thursday, they will be back in competition Gabriel Lopes, in the 200 coasts, and Victoria Kaminskaya (Benfica), in the 200 breaststroke. In a journey that will also count on the women’s 4×200 freestyle relay (Diana Durães, Victoria Kaminskaya, Tamila Holub and Ana Monteiro).
