“ANDAVA EU…” is the title of the second lead single from Rodrigo Leão’s upcoming album

After two sold-out dates in Lisbon to present his new compositions to his audience in anticipation of a live show, Rodrigo Leão releases the 2nd single from his next album, due out in April.

“Andava Eu…”, a song featuring vocals by Francisco Palma, is the title of the second single from Rodrigo Leão’s upcoming album. The successor to “O Rapaz da Montanha”, the single that announced this new chapter in the Portuguese composer’s long career, once again features lyrics by Ana Carolina Costa, arrangements by Rodrigo Leão, João Eleutério and Pedro Oliveira and string arrangements by Carlos Tony Gomes.

This is another piece of work in which Rodrigo Leão takes inspiration from formative memories from the period of his late adolescence when he began to take a serious interest in music, in the 70s.

Supported by Viviena Tupikova on violin, Bruno Silva on viola, Carlos Tony Gomes on cello, João Eleutério on synthesizers, Frederico Gracias on drums and percussion, José Peixoto on classical guitar and António Quintino on double bass, Rodrigo Leão recruits a promising young singer this time, Francisco Palma, who in his surname carries a distinct musical lineage that reaffirms, precisely, the connection of this music with the songbook of the era in which people fought for the conquest of freedom.

With Rodrigo Leão’s distinct watermark well expressed in the melodies and harmonies that accompany the evocative words, “Andava Eu…” is yet another contribution to unveiling what the composer sees as a new chapter in the adventure he likes to call “Os Portugueses”, songs in which he tries out different approaches to our language: “but there is a different tone, the arrangements bring new things, the inspiration comes from elsewhere”, Rodrigo emphasizes.
