André Carvalho, bassist, and composer who shares his activity between Portugal and New York, returns to the stage to present his latest album The Garden of Earthly Delights, inspired by the homonymous masterpiece by Hieronymus Bosch. The concert will take place at the Casa das Artes in Porto on May 28th at 7pm.
According to André, this will be a very important concert, since it will be the first as a leader, after the confinement experienced in 2021. For the concert at the Casa das Artes in Porto, Carvalho will have the participation of João Mortágua (saxophone), Gonçalo Marques (trumpet), João Carreiro (guitar), and Marcos Cavaleiro (drums), a formation that includes musicians from the North and Center of the country.
Edited by the American publisher Outside in Music in 2019 and described as “a sonic study of contrasts” by NY Jazz Records, The Garden of Earthly Delights was presented at Blue Note (New York), Color Jazz Fest (Paris), Hot Clube de Portugal (Lisbon) among many others.
The Garden of Earthly Delights was recorded in April 2018 at The Bunker Studio in Brooklyn, New York, and was mixed by Pete Rende, and mastered by multi-instrumentalist Nate Wood. Parallel to this work, Carvalho is working on his next album Lost in Translation inspired by the incredible universe of untranslatable words, with the support of the GDA Foundation and Antena 2.
