André Villas-Boas will participate in this fourth round of the World Championship at the controls of a Citroën C3, prepared by Sports & You by José Pedro Fontes, the car with which he made his debut in the rallies in Vieira do Minho, in a Regional race in April.
In 2020, the Rally of Portugal was canceled due to the uncertainty caused by the covid-19 pandemic.
The Portuguese fleet is also present in force, as this event is also punctuated for the Portuguese championship, with emphasis on the Algarve Ricardo Teodósio (Skoda Fabia), former champion and current leader of the championship, of the title champion Armindo Araújo (Skoda Fabia), Bruno Magalhães (Hyundai i20), José Pedro Fontes (Citroën C3), Pedro Miereles (VW Polo) or Bernardo Sousa (Skoda Fabia), all of them former national champions.
The 54th edition of the event has its nerve center at Exponor, in Matosinhos, and runs from 20 to 23 May.
The 2021 Rally of Portugal will have 21 timed specials, including a super-special in the area of Foz do Douro, in Porto, to be held in the late afternoon of Saturday, May 22.
The riders face a total of 346.26 kilometers, timed, divided by 21 special stages to be covered over the three days of the race, from the 21st to the 23rd of May.
