Atomic Anniversary, a two-day party to celebrate emerging talent in national music
NOV 30 - DEC 1 < BOTA ANJOS, LISBON
THE ATOMIC ANNIVERSARY, a celebration party for the first year of the ATOMS agency, takes place from November 30 to December 1 at BOTA Anjos, featuring performances by artists such as MALVA, bonança, BILOBA, and many more.
The original idea for this event arose when Tiago Rodrigues de Matos, founder and CEO of ATOMS MGMT, realized that the agency’s aesthetic was moving towards a specific direction and sound, concerning the independent music market. A curation that prioritizes emerging talent that sings in Portuguese and needs a launchpad in the music world.
Alongside names like MALVA, bonança, and BILOBA – who, despite starting their journey in national music, are already more familiar within the alternative music world, being highlighted on various radios and taking to the stages of festivals, venues, and theatres – other embryonic talents join, such as Xico Gaiato, Sogranora, and Mt.Roshi.
Regarding the birth of the ATOMIC ANNIVERSARY, Tiago Matos states: “The fact that ATOMS’ internal motto is to work only with Portuguese artists who sing in Portuguese led to the agency’s aesthetic, despite containing distinct genres, beginning to gain its own homogeneous identity. Moreover, having started as a one-person agency, the various artists are similar in terms of audience and market type, and the selection of artists was entirely made based on my taste alongside the musical quality of each artist. For these reasons, I decided to organize an event that brought together various artists with common elements, in two nights celebrating our independent Portuguese music, which I consider to be extremely broad and of great quality.”
At the ATOMIC ANNIVERSARY, we will have a night of music influenced by MPB, jazz, and style fusion, with MALVA and BILOBA, finishing the night with a more experimental and folk-rooted universe with the concert of Xico Gaiato, the most recent addition to the agency’s catalogue. The next day, we will also present the broad world of Portuguese rock, with a matinee of Sogranora, Mt. Roshi, and bonança.

Who are the artists of the ATOMIC ANNIVERSARY?
Carolina Viana, from Viana do Castelo and based in Porto, emerged in the music scene with Redoma, a Porto duo formed with producer Joana Rodrigues.
The urge to showcase solo musical work came from an old restlessness, to express herself in her own name and to have a voice. A voice that seeks a different universe from what she had explored until then.
Thus, MALVA emerges, as the result of this search and individual experimentation. MALVA is the emancipation of someone who calls herself an artist but has never done anything alone. It is the emancipation of someone who, despite not having the tools, borrows them and records within the four walls of her room. It is the emancipation of a pain that was love and that finally flows into a sea of songs.
BILOBA is a music project born in Lisbon in 2019, from the imagination of bassist and composer Francisco Nogueira.
In search of their own sound, they are characterized by the Alternative genre, drawing from Rock to Hip Hop, with roots in Jazz. It was through the halls of Hot Club Portugal / Escola de Jazz Luiz Villas-Boas that the group met and ‘BILOBA’ was born.
With ages ranging from 25 to 32, taking their first steps in the national music scene, they include Nazaré da Silva (vocalist and keyboardist), Simão Bárcia and Diogo Lourenço (guitarists), Miguel Fernández (drummer), and Francisco Nogueira (singer, composer, bassist, and lyricist).
After releasing the EP ‘Biloba’, participating in the CD ‘Novos Talentos FNAC 2022’, and stepping onto various stages such as the Festival Termómetro, Musicbox, and Festival Emergente, the challenge of launching their debut album titled ‘Sala de Espera’ arises, with support from Fundação GDA.
Xico Gaiato is the persona that Francisco Barata uses to openly express his emotions and personal observations of life.
Originally from Beira Interior, one of the main objectives is to create visions and frustrations from everything alive through the music he composes and the performances he stages.
Gaiato lives in the eagerness to try to open eyes and minds, even if he does so with performances that people do not expect to encounter and that may sometimes provide a sense of shock or strangeness. There is a present struggle in this project, related to the intention to show that Beira Interior has a unique culture in Portugal and also to demonstrate that decentralization is fundamental for the evolution of the Portuguese music scene.
In 2025, Xico Gaiato will release his debut album, the first step of a promising career, which counts on support from the Municipality of Fundão.
Sogranora consists of three brothers brought together by life:
Ricardo Sebastião (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Tomás Andrade (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and Vasco Gomes (drums, percussion, backing vocals)
Being multi-instrumentalists, Sogranora is a mixture of influences ranging from folk to psych rock, and the sound of the Seixal band reflects their restless souls and organic inspirations, along with the desire to bring something new and innovative.
In 2020, they released their first EP ‘Altivez e Castigo’, the second EP ‘Amarílis’ was released in 2023, and in 2024, they released the third short-length work titled ‘Dançar Sobre Arquitetura’.
In 2025, they will release their debut album, marked by influences from genres ranging from Portuguese folk to international alternative music, as well as progressive rock, jazz, and Latin music.
Formed in 2017, the band Mt. Roshi consists of three childhood friends: Ricardo Oliveira (drums), João Melo (guitar, vocals, and keyboards), and Francisco Teixeira (bass and vocals). Since 2012, they have been working on their musical chemistry, always reflecting on each phase of their different journeys through music and life. In 2017, they released their debut EP ‘Mt. Roshi’, launched in 2019 in the context of their training in Music Production at ETIC, reflecting shared influences from lofi and psychedelic. Since then, they have sought to explore a unique language that aligns with each member’s broad tastes and personal approach.
The debut album ‘Não Vá O Diabo Apetecê-las’ is the result of a collective effort in composition through open dialogue, presenting itself as an expression of sharing and growth, alternating between fatigue and euphoria, with influences from hip-hop, indie rock, punk, jazz, and fusion.
bonança began to take shape in 2018, in a room in Massamá, when Ricardo Barroso decided to try to materialize the musical ideas that came to his mind. With the message as a foundation, bonança navigates carefree through musical genres, ranging from post-rock to bedroom pop, from IDM to pop-punk. In 2020, he emerged as an artist, with the EP ‘Mui Nobre Intenções’, establishing himself as a name to watch, with the tracks ‘Há Demasiadas Marias’ and ‘Ah, Desaparecer’. In 2021, the track ‘Oceanário’ was selected for the compilation ‘Novos Talentos Fnac 2021’, which became a launch platform for bonança’s career. In 2022, while studying in London, Ricardo embarked on the project ‘Playtime’, which consisted of creating, recording, and sharing a musical excerpt each day for a year. In 2025, he will release his first full-length album, influenced by the experimentalism and atmospheric electronics that marked the “Playtime” period and inspired by names like Boards of Canada, Memo Boy, or Cornelius.
