Brazilian singer based in Portugal edits the light “O Futuro é mais bonito” and will give concerts.
Believing in the future has not been one of the easiest tasks, but the lightness of Anna Setton in her new album “O Futuro é mais bonito”, to be released on the 24th, will certainly help. The sweet and tuned voice fills ten tracks, including the two singles already released: “Saudade é Little” and “Sigo Dizendo Sim”. The album is edited worldwide by Galileo Music and released in Brazil by the Zelo label, distributed by Alta Fonte Brasil. Anna will present the album in three presentations at FNAC (Cascais, Colombo, and Chiado). Concerts are also scheduled at the Centro Cultural Belém (April 13), in addition to Paris (Studio de l’Ermitage, April 18), Brussels (Le Baixu, April 19), and Madrid (Café Berlín, April 21).
“This album was born in 2022, the year I moved to Portugal. My desire on this record was to explore that same sense of change, of novelty, of new airs that moving to another country brought me. In that sense it is autobiographical. There are 10 songs on the album, eight of them with different partners like Edu Sangirardi, João Camarero, Barro, Rodrigo Campello, and Igor de Carvalho, who also wrote the track with the same name on the album. The song brings a Brazilian sound, and light and is centered on the union of percussive sounds with electronic beats. In addition to these composers, Juliano Holanda and Ed Staudinger also appear on the technical sheet, signing alongside Barro Saudade é little, a song that started the album’s release in November 2022. In the lyrics, I explored everyday themes with a poetic look. It is an album of faith in the future and a celebration of life’s ever-changing flux. I also think it’s quite emblematic that I made such a Brazilian album when I was away. It goes through that feeling of recognizing yourself when you are out of your natural environment. And all this Brazilianness encourages me to want to share this Brazil of mine with the Portuguese public”, explained Anna Setton.
The album, the third in the career of the artist from São Paulo, is signed by young Pernambuco producers Barro and Guilherme Assis, who have already worked with names like Lenine, Mariana Aydar, Céu, and Rachel Reis.
“The creative process for the album took place in a fluid and constant way throughout 2022. I was composing the songs, Barro showed me others and during the year we were choosing one by one and thinking about the best way to produce them. It was an album that we were weaving little by little. One choice led to another until we reached the end. From the beginning, we knew that we wanted an album with a modern tone and production. We wanted to expand the boundaries of the more classic MPB of my first two albums and bring more pop references to the songs. We work most of the time remotely. Lots of calls and audio exchanges. Always in a very transparent and light way. It was a very smooth process and I was very happy with the way we managed to get everything resolved and how the ocean away was not an issue for us. In September of last year, I went to Recife to record. It was great to be close to Barro and Gui and record everything talking and getting to the point where we wanted to get to”, added the artist.
Anna Setton has already worked with great artists, such as the Brazilians Toquinho and Mestrinho, the Cuban Omara Portuondo, the Buena Vista Social Club, and the Japanese Sadao Watanabe, among others. The singer has also performed on important stages in Brazil, Portugal, France, Germany, England, Australia, South Korea, and Japan.
