Anozero announces the list of artists for the third edition
The third edition of the Coimbra Biennale of Contemporary Art is one month away and the organization announces the 39 artists who will occupy different places in the city, strongly activating its architectural and intangible heritage, partially qualified by UNESCO.
The Coimbra Plastic Arts Circle, the Coimbra City Council and the University of Coimbra publicly announce the list of artists from the third edition of Anozero, which will open to the public on November 2 and can be visited free of charge until December 29, 2019.
Anozero – Coimbra Contemporary Art Biennial is an initiative proposed in 2015 by the Coimbra Plastic Arts Circle, organized jointly with the Coimbra City Council and the University of Coimbra, whose main objective is to promote a reflection on the circumstance of classification University of Coimbra, Alta and Sofia as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Emerging as an attempt to understand the symbolic and effective meaning of this new reality of the city – owning World Heritage – the biennial proposes a confrontation between contemporary art and heritage, exploring the risks and the multiple possibilities associated with this cultural heritage that is now Humanity.
The Anozero is, therefore, an action program for the city that, through a systematic questioning of the territory to which it belongs, can contribute to the construction of an active and transforming cultural epoch, in Coimbra and in the Centro Region.
