On a fado night at Estoril Casino, scheduled for next Wednesday, December 11, at 10 pm, António Pinto Basto and Sara Paixão take the stage of Lounge D accompanied by Diogo Lucena Quadros on guitar, Luís Roquette on guitar and Francisco Gaspar in the bass guitar. Admission is free.
António Pinto Basto
António Pinto Basto soon showed a great taste for music, in particular, the traditional songs and Fado. Until 1988 assumed not to record, taking the opportunity to mature without failing to perform in public, in Portugal and abroad.
In 1988, he recorded his first LP “Rosa Branca”, with immediate success and crowned by a tour of over 120 concerts. In the following years, he was invited to be a soloist on a tour of the Macao Chinese Orchestra in Portugal and recorded several albums.
Founded in 2004 the group Four Cantos, with Maria Armanda, José da Câmara and Teresa Tapadas. And in December 2007, “Coral Wedding” marked his return to the traditional Fado line.
Sara Passion
Born in Lisbon in 1991, Sara Paixão, discovered fado during adolescence through Amália Rodrigues. She was conquered by this unique style and began to give her voice.
Sara Passion had not sung or tried any other musical style in concrete and it was fado that was discovered. After family approval, the young woman began her artistic career in Amateur Fado competitions. He secured the podium in the competitions of Loulé, Portimão and won, in 2011, the “Fado Vadio Contest” from the city of Olhão.
