António Zambujo continues to conquer Portugal

Coliseu dos Recreios

If there were any doubts that Cante Alentejano finally conquered Portugal, they were dispelled, with three concerts in Lisbon, two sold out today, another one heading there, and two at the Porto coliseum on the 16th and 17th, António Zambujo won over the Portuguese with your songs.

Cante Alentejano is on the rise, after we saw Buba Espinho and the Bandidos do Cante selling out the CCB, see our report here, now it’s the turn of one of Portugal’s greatest voices, António Zambujo, to do the same, several times in Lisbon and Porto.

This concert began with a simple tribute to Amália, it opened with Zambujo alone singing “Foi Deus”, and soon conquered the room, António then stated “That was how the whole process began”, a concert that served to present Cidade, the tenth musician’s album, which was entirely written and composed by Miguel Araújo, this album is based on the theme of “urban loneliness”, Zambujo said, that more and more people, especially in big cities, live surrounded by people, but are completely alone.

In this concert he showed the importance of the musicians and friends who accompany him, Zambujo gave great prominence to each of them and invited and introduced them, one by one, and so they joined him, first Bernardo Couto on Portuguese guitar, for the song “Poema dos Olhos da Amada”.

This was followed by João Moreira on trumpet, for the song “Em Quatro Luas”, Francisco Brito on double bass, for the song “Que Inveja” and finally on the piano, João Salcedo and all together they offered the audience a wonderful “Sagitário”.

António Zambujo’s simplicity and friendliness, with which he always graces the audience wherever they are, be it a small or large room, we always have the feeling that we are listening to him in his living room, or at a gathering of friends, so typical of the Alentejo people, and at the Coliseu it was no different, everyone sang with him, applauded and even “messed” with him during the concert.

Zambujo interspersing themes from the Cidade, with others that everyone knows such as “Nem às paredes confesso”, a fado, or Zorro”, “Visita de Estudo”, “Flagrante” and “Sinal da Cruz”, by the Madeiran singer Max.

With the concert ending, “Pica do 7” couldn’t be missed for everyone to sing at the top of their lungs. Still, of course, the audience asked for more and in the encore he treated the fans with “Lote B”, “Romance de Cordel” and “A Tua Frieza Gela”, which ended another fantastic concert.
