About the Novo Futuro Association
The Association of Family Homes for Children and Young People Novo Futuro, IPSS founded in Portugal in 1996, has as its mission the reception in small family homes of children and young people at social risk, deprived of a safe family environment, with stories marked by involuntary exposure to situations of abuse, negligence, and physical and psychological mistreatment, favoring the reception of groups of siblings.

Currently, 75 children/young people, aged between 8 and 21, live in the 8 houses of Novo Futuro, accompanied and guided by a specialized technical and educational team.

The average permanence of children and young people in the Houses is 5 years, and the reception can be extended after reaching the age of majority. Novo Futuro does not establish an age limit to support young people, given the importance of a safe exit and real conditions to provide them with a stable and successful life.

To date, the Association has welcomed 318 children/youths at risk, of which 243 validate the positive results that have been achieved with the Novo Futuro model of action, as they follow their life projects integrated into the family of origin, in families’ adoptive or in full autonomy.
