APEEN 2021 International Conference discusses Energy Transition and Sustainability
The 5th Annual Conference of the Portuguese Association of Energy Economics (APEEN 2021) is dedicated to Energy Transition and Sustainability. It will have a 100% virtual format, on the 20th and 21st of January 2021.
[dropcap]C[/dropcap]limate change and sustainability are challenging energy systems to reach new levels of innovation, both in terms of technology, regulation, social values, among others. APEEN 2021 aims to bring together renowned scientists, researchers and business and social innovators, in an interdisciplinary context of sharing and discussing the most recent experiences, research results and innovative ideas on the different topics within the Energy Transitions and Sustainability.
More than 45 scientific articles and posters will be presented, by authors from 10 countries, covering a variety of topics such as energy in cities, electricity markets, clean mobility, energy communities, energy economics, innovation and demand management.
The conference will feature John Drexhage as a guest speaker, consultant on climate change and sustainable development, and lead author of the World Bank’s report “Minerals and Metals to Meet the Needs of a Low-Carbon Economy”.
It will also feature the debate “Energy Transition in Portugal: how to value technical and social innovation?”, Moderated by Jorge Vasconcelos, which will bring together policy makers, companies and scientists, and will allow to explore the mechanisms and options that Portugal may adopt for the transition energy is an engine for the competitiveness of the Portuguese economy.
