Next Saturday, September 27th, the invitation is simple: put on comfortable sneakers and enjoy the weekend for a charitable stroll along the banks of the Douro River.
The 3rd edition of the Bridges Walk, organised by the Portuguese Association of Leukaemia and Lymphoma (APLL), combines leisure, physical exercise, and solidarity on a 4km route between the Freixo Bridge and the Horto das Virtudes. More than just a walk, the initiative, which begins at 10:00 am, aims to raise awareness about malignant blood diseases, such as leukaemia, lymphoma, and myeloma, and support those who face them daily.
On a route that includes some of Porto’s most iconic views, each participant is free to set their own pace and will receive, at each bridge, a walk kit (t-shirt, bag, and water) delivered by the APLL teams. The walk ends in Miragaia, with a Zumba class scheduled for 11:30 am. Designed to end the morning with positive energy and a spirit of togetherness, this event reinforces the connection between physical activity, health, and well-being. Registration costs a symbolic five euros and can be completed by filling out an online form at the APLL activity centre (Rua Damião de Góis, no. 96C, 4050-211 Porto) on September 25th and 26th, between 9 am and 9 pm, or on the day of the event.
