Apps for Good competition takes place in September in online format

The national competition that seeks young people to develop applications to solve problems related to sustainability is back.

This year’s edition of the regional meetings of the Apps for Good program takes place for the first time in an online format already tomorrow, June 1, and on Friday.

The regional meetings will have 90 teams of young people between the 5th and 12th years of schooling, which will show the work developed throughout the school year. Of these, 20 finalists will be chosen who will be present at the final event in Lisbon, on September 17th.

Among the 90 teams of students and teachers that will be competing applications like SandSpace. The app, developed by young people in the 12th grade and that allows checking the occupancy levels of 658 national beaches, was the only Portuguese finalist in the final of the Apps for Good world competition.

In the 2019 edition, the winner of Apps for Good was Color You. Created by young people from the Instituto dos Pupilos do Army, the application aims to integrate and facilitate the day-to-day lives of color-blind people, who are therefore unable to distinguish some Colors.
